Life in Georgia...it's the little things!

So, because I feel the need to clarify our life's situations...really they need clarification in order to make sense, here goes the Georgia story.  The Mexico, to pit stop in Texas, to Maine, to Milwaukee thing...all in a matter of  6 months...was a bit much.  I think anyone could agree with me there.  We knew that moves would come with the territory with the new transfer, but we decided after the 6 week Milwaukee stay to plead our case with the not to helpful clinical coordinators for a more permanent location (preferably one that would be out of winter by now).

We had hoped for the Atlanta area and heard it was possible to stay put, so Zach pulled the "I have a wife and toddler son" card, cause it's true.  And after a few hiccups, which included an email attempting to send us to the Hamptons for the summer...yeah, cause a poor med student family can afford a summer rental in the Hamptons!!  Let me just see if P. Diddy's place is available!  See what I mean about the not so helpful clinical people.  Anyways, after that 2 day "we sure as heck can't go to the freakin Hamptons" fiasco, we got the okay to head to Atlanta.  I was at this point in Texas, post sister-in-law's wedding, hanging out to avoid the improbable road trip.  Zach's dad flew to Milwaukee to make the drive with him, for some fun boy time, and to help him load and unload stuff a few times...thanks Lee!

I spent the next week online looking for a place to live.  Let me tell you, I never in my life thought I would be so excited to look for an apartment.  Like an empty apartment to sign a 1 year lease on...it's the little things!  We focused on search on the north part of Atlanta hearing it was the best and ended up with a place in Sandy Springs.  We love it here!  Zach did a great job feeling out the areas and knowing what was best for us.  I trusted his judgement...and my online searching skills, apartmentratings.com, baby!

Me and the little guy flew in the day before our 5th wedding anniversary, which we spent in a hotel waiting for our new place to be ready.  The actual day of our anniversary, we got to take Tate to an urgent care clinic for trip #2 for an ear infection in 3 weeks (trip #3 in 5 weeks was just over a week ago with bronchitis added to the mix).  The start of our time here has been getting settled, trying to fill our apartment with furniture cause we had none, and quite a bit of sickness...oh, and about 4 Ikea trips!  Love me some Ikea!

Sick boy spent quite a few nights in mommy and daddy's bed & had lots of breathing treatments!

We have now successfully filled our place with furniture, thanks to Ikea and Cragislist.  I have been able to hang things on the wall that I forgot I had, unpack my nice dishes, set up a bedroom for Tate to play in for the first time in his life...it's the little things!  I still have little pinterest inspired ideas running through my head to fill a few empty walls and a sewing machine that needs to be dusted off to make some throw pillows, but other than that we couldn't feel cozier in our new place.  The coziest part is know that we will be here for at least a year, but really, most likely 2 years!

Our ward at church is great, the area is super convenient and beautiful (and not nearly as hot as Texas), Tate is eating and sleeping better...seriously, the little things!  Now, we just need some visitors to come check our Atlanta.  It so beautiful here, you won't regret it...except that you won't have a bed to sleep in :)

Getting some vitamin D, on the nature trails at our complex...sporting their new Braves hats!

One of many all day jammie days!  Cooking something for mommy in his new kitchen.   He always makes that face when the burner makes it's boiling sound :)
